Privacy
Short version: what you type stays in your browser, there are no cookies or accounts, and page views are counted without tracking you.
What you type
The root breaker and the search boxes work entirely in your browser. The site never receives the words you type or the filters you choose. The root breaker downloads its word list, /data/english-words.txt, from this site the first time you use it; that request contains nothing you typed.
When you break a word down, its spelling is added to the address bar (for example ?w=biography) so you can copy or bookmark the result. That address stays in your browser’s history like any other page you visit; it is not sent to us unless you load that address again.
Analytics
The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which Cloudflare adds to pages served from its network. It counts page views without cookies or cross-site tracking and never receives what you type into the tools.
What is stored on your device
Etymoasis does not use cookies. It keeps one item in your browser’s local storage, etymoasis-theme, and only if you choose light or dark with the theme button. Clearing site data removes it.
Links to other sites
Dictionary sources, sister sites and the two recommended tools are ordinary links. Nothing is sent to them unless you follow a link, and then their own privacy policies apply.
Contact
Etymoasis has no accounts, mailing list or contact form, and collects no personal information.
